Abstract

Abstract This study aims to describe: (1) the development of Street Art in Mojokerto, (2) the meaning of culture in Street Art in Mojokerto, (3) the relevance of street art in Indonesian language learning in high schools. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with ethnolinguistic approach. Subjects in this study were written data or literature, namely in the form of street art culture and informants. The object of this research is a picture of street art, in the study of Ethnolinguistics. Data collection techniques use observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Researchers play a direct role as the main instrument of research. Data validation is obtained through triangulation of data sources, methods, and theories. Data analysis used in this research is interactive analysis model by collecting data, reducing data, displaying data, and verifying data. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the process of developing street art in Mojokerto. In 2006 One Zero Crew was a group that introduced and developed the street art culture in Mojokerto. The lack of appreciation of the Mojokerto government for the street art culture is not an obstacle to the development of street art in Mojokerto, the support of the Mojokerto community that keeps the street art culture still developing until now. (2) cultural meaning in street art in Mojokerto. Street art not only has aesthetic value but street art also has a message to convey from street art artists to the public 3) its relevance to street art in Indonesian language learning in high schools. Hasi from an interview with AL-Multazam high school teacher that street art can be used as teaching material in learning Indonesian at the high school level on basic competencies in writing biography. Street art can stimulate students' creativity in writing when basic competencies in writing biographies are taught.
