Abstract

He purpose of this research is to find out what communication strategies that the teacher uses when teaching a class, teacher's perception of communication strategies and also the obstacles that influence teachers to use communication strategies in MI Bilingual Roudlotul Jannah. To achieve the research objectives the researcher conducted, qualitative research experiments. This experiment was carried out through interviews and also gave questionnaires to teachers about the communication strategies carried out while in class in accordance with the communication taxonomy strategy from Doryei and Scott (1995). Based on the result of the research the researcher find that the direct strategies that is used by teachers are restruction, literal translation, code switching, retrieval, mime and self-rephrasing.in Interactional strategies The teacher uses the strategy of asking for repetition, asking for clarification, asking for confirmation, and interpretive summary. Whereas in indirect strategies the teacher uses the strategies of use of fillers, repetitions, verbal strategy markers and feigning understanding. But the strategy that is often used by teachers is a direct strategy for direct approach with students. In perspective the Teachers believe that communication strategies are very important for the teacher and student approach strategies because they can make it easier to communicate with students. Barriers that are often encountered for the application of English in bilingual schools are language and vocabulary that are still not widespread From the results above, it can be concluded that teachers more often use direct strategies. And to make it easier for teachers to communicate and approach to the students, the students they need training in communication strategies to maximize the use of English in schools in accordance with the objectives of bilingual schools.
