Abstract

The significance of this research is to determine benefit of using Digital Games for Teaching Vocabulary. To achieve the research objectives, researchers conducted qualitative research. Researchers took 2 teachers from Progressive Wachid Hasyim Middle School and Muhammaddiyah 17 Surabaya Middle School who used digital learning media games as the research data. The two teachers use different games namely Head 'up game and Cutting edge. The instruments of this study were interviews and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that there are some benefit from the use of digital games in learning English, especially vocabulary. In addition, students are also very interested in digital games as learning media. Using digital games makes students more active and enthusiastic in the learning process. Students also pay more attention and can complete the assignments given by the teacher. In implementing digital games, teachers do not experience many difficulties because of the support of school facilities, it's just that teachers have a little difficulty when giving instructions to students about how the game works.
