Abstract

ABSTRAK Setiap calon mahasiswa memiliki berbagai macam informasi (data non spasial) yang berhubungan dengan informasi lokasi geografis daerah asalnya (data spasial). Tentunya informasi-informasi tersebut dibutuhkan oleh berbagai pihak, terutama pihak penyelenggara pendidikan. Dari pengelompokan tersebut dapat dilakukan analisa tentang bagaimana pola sebaran daerah asal calon mahasiswa dan selanjutnya dapat digunakan untuk pengambilan keputusan mengenai mekanisme dan prioritas program sosialisasi dan promosi kampus. Namun memerlukan waktu yang cukup lama untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan dalam menentukan wilayah yang berpotensi untuk dilakukan promosi dengan lebih intensif. Hal ini dikarenakan representasi data tidak terkait secara langsung dengan informasi geografis yang menunjukkan wilayah tertentu. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut perlu sistem pemetaan domisili asal mahasiswa berbasis WebGIS sengan bantuan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG). Sistem dirancang dan dikembangkan dengan menggunakan metode Waterfall, bahasa pemrograman PHP dan database MySQL. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebuah aplikasi SIG yang memuat output bukan hanya peta sebaran yang berisi jumlah mahasiswa tetapi juga informasi pendukung lainnya berupa tabel dan diagram batang. Aplikasi secara signifikan dapat membantu dalam mempertimbangkan wilayah sasaran untuk keperluan sosialisasi dan promosi. Of course the information needed by various parties, specifically the education provider. From this grouping, an analysis can be done abaut how the distribution pattern of the area origin of prospective students and then can be used to make decisions about the machanisms and priorities of campus socialization and promoting programs. However, it requires quite a long time to gain knowledge in determining areas that have the potential for more intensive promotion. To overcome these problems, we need a domicile mapping system students based on WebGIS with help of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The system id designed and developed using the waterfall method, PHP programming language and MySQL database. The resulys of this study are a GIS application that contains output not only a distribution map containing the number of students but also other supporting information in the form of tables and bar charts.
