Abstract

Amirul Riza (51501010002). Production of Biodiesel Oil from Frying Sardine Krispi (Sardinella Lemuru) Using Ethanol Transesterification Method. Supervisor I : Eko Sutrisno, S.Si., M.Sc. Advisor II: Raida Amelia Ifadah, S.TP,. MP. Petroleum is increasingly needed as an energy source. But the source of energy from fuel oil is difficult to obtain because of the decomposition process of organic compounds from the bodies of microorganisms. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel to replace diesel fuel which is made from vegetable oil as raw material. The oils used in the manufacture of biodiesel include jatropha oil, palm oil, oil from rubber seeds, coconut oil, soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, and used cooking oil (cooking oil). The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate NaOH concentration, temperature and heating time to produce biodiesel with an acid number and viscosity that complied with SNI-04-7182-2006. ethanol (w/w) was 0.25 %, 0.5 %, 0.75%(N) and the heating time was 30, 60, 90 minutes (L). So we got 12 trials. This study produces pure qualitative data with the lowest acid number test results obtained at the treatment concentration of 0.75% NaOH, a temperature of 65 C with a heating time of 30 minutes ie 0.3244 mg-KOH/g and the viscosity test obtained a value at the upper limit of the standard from SNI -04-7182-2006 which is 2,3 – 6.0 mm/s (cSt) the results are obtained in the treatment of 0.75% NaOH concentration at 90 minutes and the heating time is 5,13 cSt, these results are according to the recommended standard SNI-04-7182-2006. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, it is obtained that the acid value and viscosity of biodiesel used for frying crispy sardines can be an alternative diesel fuel.
