Abstract

The investigation occurred at SMAN 1 Gondang, Mojokerto, where the X-IPS 1 class served as the experimental group and the X-MIPA 5 class as the control group. The study utilized the REACT method (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, and Transferring) to teach descriptive texts to the experimental group. This research aimed to address the English vocabulary writing challenges faced by numerous students. This research focuses on the effectiveness of the REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, and Transferring) method in teaching descriptive text materials. This research employs a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design. The experimental class utilizes the REACT method, while the control class only uses PowerPoint as the instructional media for teaching descriptive texts. The research utilizes Pre-Test and Post-Test instruments. Data gathering involved conducting Pre-Tests and Post-Tests for each of the research classes. The average scores for the experimental class (X-IPS 1) were 76.22857 for the Pre-Test and 84.25714 for the Post-Test, while for the control class (X-MIPA 5), the scores were 81.32353 for the Pre-Test and 83.91176 for the Post-Test. In this research, the independent sample t-test results (Sig) were more significant than 0.05, which indicated the need for a non-parametric statistical test. When the non-parametric test was applied, it revealed no significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The result from the non-parametric test was (Sig) 0.160 > 0.05, leading to the rejection of the hypothesis and confirming that no significant difference exists between the two groups.
