Abstract

Writing is one of the most important skill when studying English. Some students still have difficulty in writing, especially writing narrative text. By using guided question technique, it can help students to develop their writing skill. The purpose of the study. The purpose of the study is to determine how to make narrative text by using guided questions technique for students of SMKN 1 Pungging. The significance of the study are to find out how the teacher implement guided questions technique in teaching narrative text and the teacher challenges of implementing guided questions technique in teaching narrative text at SMKN 1 Pungging. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher conducted a qualitative research. The subject of the research is one of English teacher of SMKN 1 Pungging. The researcher choose the sample by using purposive sampling. For the instrument the researcher uses interview. Based on the analysis of data that has been obtained, the teacher is doing several steps in implementing guided question techniques. They are; motivate the students, explain the narrative text material, give a topic, answer wh-questions, and make narrative text. Moreover the teacher faced challenges in implementing the guided questions technique, they are students who do not understand the topic and students’ laziness.
