Abstract

Relly Octavia Devi, 51706140017.Exploring Students’ Difficulties and Factors In Writing Recount Text.Thesis in English Department. Majapahit Islamic University. Advisor : (I) Wiwik Mardiana, S.Pd., M.Hum., (II) Ahmad Iklil Saifulloh, S.S.,M.Pd., Writing is one of the important skills in English. because writing is one way of conveying information to the public. These skills are taught from elementary school, junior high school, to senior  high school. Writing skills are not easy to mastered, and can be said to be difficult skills. The writer conducted this research to find out the difficulties of class X students of SMAN 1 Dawar Blandong in writing recount text and its factors. The research method in this research is descriptive qualitative. The sample was choosen on random sampling, the researcher choose X IPA2 and the teacher as the subject of the research. The researcher used docements, interview, and questionnaire to get the data. To analyze the data, the researcher used three steps according to Miles and Huberman, they are: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The result showed that there are five aspects in difficulties faced in writing, such as: content (10.34%) of 58 total difficulties, followed by 6 organization (10.34 %), 20 languages (34.48 %), 14 vocabularies (24.13%) and 12 mechanics (20.68%). It means that the most dominant difficulties in writing recount text is in grammatical, vocabularies, and mechanics. Beside that also the most dominant factor that affected is low in interested, low in practice, and low motivation. Keywords : writing difficulty, recount text
