Abstract

Learning media is an intermediary that can convey abstract vocabulary material information to students in junior high school who are still at the concrete thinking stage. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using Assemblr Edu App as a vocabulary learning media and describe the response of seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Gedeg Mojokerto to the media. This research is Quasi-Experimental research with a Non-equivalent Group design. The data collection techniques used were tests and questionnaires. Data collection tools used student worksheets and questionnaire sheets. This research was located at SMPN 1 Gedeg, Gedeg District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java Province. The population in this study were seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 GEDEG with a total of 256 students. The sample used was 64 students with 32 students in the experimental class who used Assemblr Edu App media, while 32 students in a control class who did not use Assemblr Edu App media. The use of learning media affects students' cognitive outcomes compared to those who do not use it. The t-test analysis showed a value of t = 4.127 and a significance of 0, indicating a significant difference in cognitive learning outcomes. This states that Assemblr Edu media is effective in vocabulary learning of junior high school students. The response of SMPN 1 Gedeg students to this application is positive on cognitive (content knowledge 81.8%, usage comprehension 81.6%, presentation comprehension 82.6%) and affective (motivation 78.1%, interest 82.8%, curiosity 81.3%) aspects, indicating this application is effective in English learning, especially on vocabulary material.
