Abstract

This study aims to find out the correlation between students vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension at SMAI Brawijaya. This research use quantitative design specifically correlation study. The sample of this study is XI grade students which consists of 30 students. In analyzing the data the researcher used SPSS.29 pearson correlation. The instrument that is used in this research is test. There were two tests used in collecting the data for this research: vocabulary test and reading comprehension test. The value of two-tailed significance of correlation (rvalue) between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension score is 0.875 with error value or sig (2-tailed) 0.000. It means that vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension has a positive significant correlation because rvalue>rtable that is 0.875>0.3494. thus, it can be stated that vocabulary mastery is very important and can help the students to have a good comprehension in reading.
