Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of Educaplay as a gamification learning tool on students' reading comprehension at SMAN 1 Dawarblandong. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test design of a non-equivalent control group. The sample consisted of 68 eleventh-grade students divided into an experimental group (XI-1) and a control group (XI-2), with 34 students in each group. The experimental group received reading instruction through Educaplay, while the control group was taught using conventional instruction. The research instrument was a multiple-choice reading comprehension test that measured four indicators: identifying main ideas, finding specific information, understanding vocabulary in context, and making conclusions. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through IBM SPSS Statistics Version 27. The results showed that the average score of the experimental group increased from 66.06 in the pre-test to 86.97 in the post-test, with a Gained score of 0.598 which was categorized as a moderate increase. The Mann-Whitney U test showed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups after treatment. These findings indicate that Educaplay, as a gamified learning tool, has a positive effect on students' reading comprehension. Therefore, Educaplay can be considered an effective alternative learning tool for increasing students' engagement and reading comprehension in English learning. Keywords: Educaplay, gamified learning, reading comprehension, EFL, analytical exposition text.
