Abstract

Learning media is a tool to deliver learning material from the teacher to students. One of the learning media that has many contributions to the teaching and learning process in the classroom, especially in the EFL class is YouTube video. One of the schools that uses YouTube videos in the process of learning and teaching English is SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto. Therefore, this research aims to (1) Investigate the teacher's experience in teaching English in the classroom using YouTube videos as media, (2) Investigate students' experiences about learning English in class using YouTube videos as media, (3) Find out the advice given by students regarding the use of YouTube videos as a medium for learning English in class. The research design used by the researcher in this research is mixed methods with the type of the convergent parallel design. For data collection techniques, the researcher used interviews and questionnaires. The subjects of this research were an English teacher and the students at X MIPA 3 in SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto. The results of this research showed that teachers and students get positive experiences in using YouTube videos in class. It can be proved from the results of teacher interviews, who stated that the use of YouTube videos contributes to the learning process in the classroom. Additionally, the results of the questionnaire stated that students were interested in using YouTube videos in class so that they could improve their learning outcomes. This research is expected to provide information and recommendations for English teachers to utilize YouTube videos as learning media. As a result, the objectives of learning and teaching languages can be achieved.
