Abstract
The purpose of this research are to describe the implementation of interactive teaching strategy in speaking activity at the first grade of tourism students and to find out the students response in learning speaking using the interactive teaching strategy.Researcher conducted a descriptive qualitative research. The subject of the research was the first grade of tourism students of SMKN 1 Trowulan. Mojokerto. The researcher collected the data through interview, classroom observation and questionnaire. Then the data were analyzed with descriptive qualitative. Based on the results, the researcher found out that the teacher implemented the interactive strategy in seven steps and using worksheet. From the observation, the teacher conducted fourteen from the fifteen learning activity. The student's response shown that learning using interactive teaching strategy give good impact for the students. It can help them to more active in speaking class activity. It is supported by the result of the student's responses got average of 85% which mean a strong category in positive response.
