ABSTRACT Aeni, Nur. 2022. The Effectiveness of Grammarly in Enhancing Students Recount Text Writing Skill Through Genre-Based Approach. Skripsi, Teacher Training and Education Language Education Faculty Study Program and Education Faculty of Majapahit Islamic University, Advisor (I) Iklil Syaifulloh, S. S., M, Pd. And Advisor (II) Syihabul Irfan, S. Pd., M. Hum. Keywords: Grammarly, Writing Skil, Genre-Based Approach Writing is one of the activities carried out by teachers and students in the teaching and learning process, especially in writing recount texts. A recount text is a text that retells past events with the aim of informing or entertaining. The objectives of this research are to proved the effectiveness of used Grammarly on students' writing recount text through a Genre-Based Approach and to determine students' perceptions of Grammarly in their writing used a Genre-Based Approach. This study used a quantitative method of Quasi Experimental in collected data with purposive sampling technique and used a Quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test non randomize or nonequivalent. Data was analyzed by SPSS 22 to obtain the mean, median, and standard deviation. The population of this study was students of class VIII SMPN 1 Puri Mojokerto. This study used pre-test and post-test questions in the experimental and control classes and the questionnaire was only given to the experimental class to collect data. The results showed that the scores of all students increased and the used of Grammarly was very effective for learned writing recount text, and the majority of students had positive belief or "Strongly Agree" on the used of Grammarly in learned recount text. And data was collected through pre-test and post-test both the control class and the experimental class. The results of the hypothesis analysis that the value of t count is 2.263 > t table 2.006 at a significance level of 0.05 (5%) and Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.001 < 0.05. Based on the above calculations that t- count > t-table or Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05, means that Hα is accepted. So, it can be concluded that Grammarly is an effective medium to improve students' recount text writing skills.
