Abstract

Grammar learning is often perceived as complex and challenging for high school students, particularly when dealing with tenses such as the Simple Present Tense. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using Quizlet, a Technology-Based Learning (TBL) tool, in enhancing students’ grammar skills in Simple Present Tense. This research employed a quasi-experimental design involving two groups of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Dawarblandong. The sample consisted of 60 students, divided equally into an experimental class (n=30), which used Quizlet, and a control class (n=30), which used conventional methods. The data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests consisting of multiple-choice and gap-filling items. The analysis revealed that the experimental class showed greater improvement, as indicated by the paired sample t-test result (t = 12.732) compared to the control class (t = 6.693). Furthermore, the independent sample t-test showed a positive difference between the two groups (t = 5.317; Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000), confirming the effectiveness of Quizlet. This study suggests that integrating interactive digital tools such as Quizlet into grammar instruction can positively enhance students’ engagement and grammatical accuracy, especially in fundamental structures like the Simple Present Tense.
